Life

Well, I spent the weekend in CA helping a dear friend work on her new house and have not worked out since Thursday evening. Yikes! I did a great job eating properly, which is difficult when I go back to CA because the food rocks. I shoulda, coulda, woulda done a 101 workout in my hotel room, but I was so tired after painting all day and so covered with paint that the only thing I could focus on was my HOT shower.

Today’s 101 workout is chest/core which will be a great workout to help me refocus. I’m also planning to get on the treadmill for at least an hour.

I can’t cry over spilled milk. I didn’t workout, I have to get over it and move on. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Last night I watched a show on TLC called the 650lb Virgin. Wow! It’s about David Smith, a young man that was morbidly obese and didn’t have a life. He saw a trainer on a local morning show, contacted him and started working with him. Over the next 26 months David lost 410lbs and more importantly he has a life. He goes out with friends, dates, exercises and has even become a personal trainer.

The best part of David’s story is that he learned about proper nutrition and exercise over 26 months. He’s much more likely to keep his weight off because he did it in a realistic manner. I love the Biggest Loser because it shows morbidly obese people that they are capable of losing the weight without surgery, but there methods are not realistic for most people. The participants are removed from all the daily obstacles that most people face trying to lose weight, their workout program is almost a full time job and they’re receiving nutritional guidance.

David’s story is wonderful. I applaud him for sharing his story and kudos to his trainer Chris Powell!
